Different ways to visit Hautefort

Self-guided visit of the castle, gardens and park

The domaine of Hautefort consists of a classic furnished chateau, a French garden and a 30-hectare park.
The visit is self-guided for individual visitors.

In order to prepare for the visit and organize the process, brochures translated into several languages (French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch and Polish) are available at the ticket office.

An audiovisual documentary on the history of the castle and its owners throughout the years is visible in a video-projection room on the ground floor of the castle.

To add amusement while discovering the castle, a special brochure is offered to children to enable them to explore the castle like a detective. There are puzzles to solve and games to play which illuminate the history of Hautefort, with a gift at the end of the visit …

Workshops for children

Artistic workshops

We offer creative workshops, providing a fun environment where younger members of the public come to learn about the history and significance of the castle. Using art materials and recycled paper manufactured on site, they produce highly imaginative and original creations, and make a gesture for the planet!
The end of the workshop, each child leaves with his or her work and gifts.

Tuesdays in summer. From 2.30pm to 6.00am.
No additional charge. No booking.

The gardener’s workshop

The cuttings workshop offers the opportunity to discover the profession of gardener, to know the plants and flowers of the castle, to understand the cycle of plants, to prepare, handle, sift, repot, and to leave with a boxwood from the nursery of the estate, to see it grow!
