Hautefort, 1st ecolabeled cultural site

Environmental questions have always been important at Hautefort, particularly within the gardens – a vast area of experimentation.

Looking to preserve an exceptional domain whilst limiting its carbon footprint, the chateau has undertaken numerous actions in favour of the environment: an organic vegetable garden, careful water and energy management, recycling and gardening workshops, an exhibition on biodiversity etc. These actions earned it the first Ecolabel awarded to a cultural site.

Sharing experiences

The Fondation du Château de Hautefort has become a leader in sustainable management and hopes now to share its experience and know-how with as many as possible.
